IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts has been published and is set to fundamentally change accounting and reporting practices within the insurance industry. To assist the implementation of the Standard, the IFRS Foundation is hosting a Special Interest Workshop entitled: ‘Introducing IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts’ at the forthcoming IFRS Foundation Conference 2017 in Amsterdam on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 June.

This session will feature presentations by IASB Board members and technical staff; and a panel discussion
specifically on the implementation of IFRS 17 and communicating the process of change with the following
panellists:

  • Hans van der Veen, Senior Manager, IFRS Services Team, EY
  • Harm van de Meerendonk, Head of Financial Accounting & Reporting, NN Group
  • Véronique Hijl, Head of Department, De Nederlandsche Bank

There will be opportunities to ask questions.

The IFRS Foundation Conference in Amsterdam also features three other technical Special Interest Workshops for those who require an update on other new Standards, or communication issues:

  • Investor-focused workshop and update
  • Foundation of IFRS 9, 15 and 16
  • Better Communication in Financial Reporting
